Random Update

I am so tired and frustrated today. I can't think very clearly so I am just going to post some random updates.
  • An ambulance is coming to pick dad up from the hospital tomorrow at 8:30 am. They are taking him to Baptist Downtown to have Radiation Mapping done. This will allow them to pinpoint exactly where the radiation needs to be focused on. The radiation will happen here at Baptist South starting tomorrow or Saturday.
  • Dad has Pneumonia in his lower left lung. He is on an antibiotic for this.
  • The doctors still aren't sure why he is vomitting blood when he eats. The x-rays he had done yesterday to try to figure this out were clear.
  • I asked dad if he is processing everything ok and he said he is. His main complaint is that he doesn't like to lay around. He keeps thinking about everything he has to get done. He is SO ready to get out of here.
  • We are still hoping he can have the porta-cath inserted later today.
  • His oxygen levels are still low, so he is on an oxygen tube. This could be due to the pneumonia.
  • It is looking like he might not make it home until Sunday or Monday.

  4. Cilla - Thank you for blessing us with these updates so that we can stay close in prayer with your parents who are such a blessing. I was speaking just a few minutes ago with a dear friend who is also fighting a cancer. He, too, is a man who has always walked very closely with the Lord. I told him that I had ask the Lord why he and Doug, whose walk with Him has been so close, are going through this. He replied that you get to a point in your faith when you can say to the Lord that whatever He is doing in your life, its OK, and even though we cannot understand why He is allowing this to happen, it is possible just to rest in Him and be joyful in His constant presence. His dear wife has also reached a place of peace and trust in all this even though, at first, she did not feel this. It never ceases to amaze me how much a person who is deep in God's word and confident in His love, can strengthen all around them when they the ones who are deep in a trail! He and Doug are truly examples of the faith that the Lord wants all those who love Him to have so that we may serve Him in the weeks and months to come. Tom and I continue in prayer and know that our Lord has great blessings for all of you!

  5. Dear Prissy,
As I read your daily updates the first thought that comes to mind is how blessed your parents are. You have been faithfully by your mother's side this whole time, supporting her in her time of need, may you be blessed. Also, I pray daily for your daddy's comfort and strength. Then there is your momma, I am so thankful for the friends who are there to support her. God knows what the heart cannot express at these difficult times. Please convey this verse to your mom, as she has shared it with me several years ago. It is Lamentations 3:22-23, and note v.21 also, ...for his compassions never fail. This I know and am so thankful. May you all feel strengthed and encouraged Friday as the body of Christ lifts you and your family up in prayer. I love you!!!
