10 Were Bad and 2 Were Good

God reminded mom of the passage in Numbers 13-14 where the Israelites were trying to take over the land of Canaan. 12 spies went in to Canaan to scope out the land. 10 came back with bad reports and 2 came back with good reports. The important thing to remember is that they all saw the same land. Their report was based on their perspective. The 2 men that gave good reports weren't ignorant of the danger of over-taking the land. They just chose to believe the Word that Lord had given them and it was their belief that brought them into the land. They understood that their God was bigger than the situation at hand.

There are 2 ways of looking at dads situation as we face the day in and day out reports. We can look at the situation from a medical and realistic perspective or we can look at it from God's perspective.
Does looking at it from God's perspcetive mean that we are ignorant to the facts? Does it mean that we don't understand the severity of the situation? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
It does mean that we look at the situation (reality and all) and then say, "But, God...". It means that underneath it all we have hope that God brought us here for a reason. It means that we know He will carry us through and see us to the other side, not matter the outcome!

Dad made it back safely from Baptist Downtown where he had the Radiation Mapping done. He was tired from the trip when we got back to his room. He said he was able to sleep all night! Praise The Lord!
He just left the room for his first radiation treatment and is scheduled to have the porta-cath put in later today.
I will post an update when dad gets back.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

  1. aw! Girl, you are so gifted with words. I agree 100% (and then some!!!!) with EVERYthing you said. And I love the "But God.."!!!! Whenever there is a "but God"..you know something awesome is about to follow. I'm believing with ya'll and YES, God has walked with you to the place where you find yourselves..but you are certainly not alone there and it will be so neat to see what follows the "but god" in this situation.

I pray your dad will be strengthened thru this radiation treatment and that God will use it to his glory. We serve a mighty God!!! Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!

Love you all and will keep checking updates. You are ALL in the forefront of my heart and mind...praying ALWAYS. God's peace be with you. :-)

As I sat this morning praying for all of you, I was reading in the "Word for Today" and the verse was II Corth. 1:3 "The God of ALL COMFORT" here is a little of what was said: God can bring you through situations you think you won't survive, He can make you comfortable in the most uncomfortable places, and GIVE you PEACE in the midst of trauma." You'll live each day not knowing what tomorrow holds, BUT be confident that God has your tomorrows all planned out and they are in HIS HANDS!

May you feel, see, and know His GRACE is with you all, and I pray His Peace over your minds and hearts..

  4. Debbie, Doug and family...After reading Fridays posting, I had to tell you that the scripture you referenced is "right on". You are absolutely correct in knowing the seriousness of this situation BUT trusting in the Lord and believeing HIS report. My middle son was in a car wreck a few years back and Shepherds Spinal Clinic in Atlanta told us that he would never walk again. He asked me if I believed the report the doctors had given him. I said No! It wasn't that we ignored what they said, after all, he really couldn't move from the waist down. However, I gave him the scripture that says with G-d ALL things are possible. I told him to take it like medicine 3 times a day. He clung to that scripture as did I and praise the Lord he is walking today. He limps, but he is walking! I want to encourage all of you to continue to trust in the One who holds each of us in the palms of His hands and who is faithful. May His peace rain down on you all. I will continue in prayer. Know that you all are loved.
