- First, one of my dad's best friends, who was also going through a fight with cancer, went to be with the Lord suddenly this morning. This family has been more than friends to us, they are our extended family. We weep with them for the loss of their father and husband, and yet we rejoice with them that this wonderful man is in the Arms of Jesus tonight.
We have chosen not to tell dad this yet, as he is already in a fragile state of mind. The main reason for this is that we know the information will upset dad greatly and we HAD to get him to the hospital today for a doctors appointment and radiation. Mom plans on talking to dad about it tonight. - Yesterdays Radiation really made dad weak. He threw up on the way home (thankfully we were prepared) and slept most of the afternoon.
- Today's radiation went better. He didn't throw up until we got back home. The hard thing is, it literally takes 2 extra people to get mom and dad back and forth to appointments. One person has to stay with mom at all times for 2 reasons: 1. she is emotionally fragile and 2. you have to listen to the dr. for her because she is not retaining all of the information. The second person has to stay with dad to push his wheelchair (he is too weak to walk right now) and to help him when he vomits.
- I am so thankful I do not have a job right now and that we have a nice comfortable car so that I can tote mom and dad everywhere. Mom is not thinking clearly enough to drive and someone has to help dad with the vomiting.
- Dad has radiation Thursday and Friday.
- He is having a feeding tube put in on Monday as he is not able to eat and drink enough to keep his energy up.
- Chemo starts next week.
- I need to say a quick thank you to Paula for my birthday flowers! They truly brightened my day! And, thank you, Aunt Kay for the candle... it smells delicious in our bedroom! LOVE YA'LL!!!
- THANK YOU, Sharon, for volunteering to clean the house for mom and dad. You cannot know what a blessing this is. We don't take it for granted.
- Words cannot express how grateful we are for the gracious donations you all have made towards dads treatment. You cannot fathom how this has helped... no matter how big or small, any donation goes a long way. You cannot possibly understand how much this helps and there is NO WAY we can express the thanks that is deserved. May Our Great Provider bless you 10 fold for your sacrifice. thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!
Please continue pray for strength and endurance for our family. I will update again tomorrow after Radiation.
God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.

Our hearts, minds and prayers are so much with you guys right now. We continue to pray for God's mercy, comfort and healing hand laid upon Doug and strength and comfort to all you guys as you deal with it all!! Let me know if you have anymore needs Cilla!!

Priscilla,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for taking the time to post your thoughts and updates on your father's treatment. It is very much appreciated. I know this is a very difficult time for all of you but I hope is of comfort to know that you are not alone in this trial. Many people, both friends and family, care deeply for you all. And never forget that God hears our prayers.
Love
Aunt Debbie
Thank you, girl, for your updates. I know you have your hands soooo full and have to be exhausted. You are an amazing daughter!!! My heart is so full...so many thoughts. You're all facing so much right now. I pray that God will meet each and every need you have...that he will minister to each of you in the ways you need it most. Remember that his strength is perfect when our strength is gone and he'll carry us when we can't carry on...(I LOVE THAT SONG!!!) Cast all your cares on him because he CARES SOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR YOU!!!!! Please hug your mom and dad for me (and yourself as well, even though that might look just a little bit odd, hehe). I love you guys and am praying SO MUCH for you. I'm hoping to try to come over that way (Lord willing) possibly after the 7th or 8th for a day visit and will help you however I can. I'll check with you all as it gets closer to that time. Love you!!!!
ReplyDeleteCil,
ReplyDeleteYou are such an example in so many ways. What a cherished daughter you are to your parents right now. I am praying God will CONTINUE to sustain you with His strength. Aren't we so thankful that, at times like these, the Holy Spirit is consistently interceding on our behalf... that your deepest needs and concerns are being lifted up before the Father continually. He is Faithful!
Thank you for taking the time to post. It is so appreciated, especially by those of us who are far away!
You are loved! Please pass along our love to Aunt Debbie and Uncle Doug. Remember, your Abba will not give you more than He knows you can handle for the moment. Just take things one moment at a time... He will provide the strength, means, and emotional stamina.
I love you, Cil!
