Our Hope Endures

Dad has taken a grave turn yesterday afternoon. Paralysis is beginning to set in and Dad is no longer able to walk on his own, if at all. This is caused because the cancer is growing on his spine. Hospice is bringing in a hospital bed today to help keep him comfortable.
He woke up at 3:00am to use the bathroom and then we all sat around dads bed and listened to a quiet CD (The Shadow Of Your Wings by Fernando Ortega) and just held his hands.
He made it through the night and is very peaceful and restful this morning.
We are staying by his side and keeping him comfortable. Mom is holding up well so far. She is running on adrenaline, knowing she has to take care of Dad right now. I am sure she will crash later.

I will continue to update when I can.

  1. Priscilla, thank you so much for letting all of us be a part of your Dad's life in such a personal and intimate way by writing this blog. You are touching more lives than you know. So deep down inside, I/we all just wish there was something we could do to take your family's pain and heartache away, only God can soothe it, but we feel it with you. Your family has my prayers and thoughts. Love, Rhonda Fluriach

  2. Cilla,

I teach a Sunday school class of about 25 middleschool girls. Yesterday they asked me for an update on your Dad because they've been praying for all of you. I shared with them how amazed I have been through this journey that his faith and loyalty to Christ has never faded, yet only grown stronger. Your Dad has been an example not only throughout his life as I've known him but even now in his greatest trial. He is a true testimony of a heart sold out to Christ and his life is reaching people he's never even met. Even in this, God is being glorified through your father's life.

I love you, pray for you and wish I could be there to serve your family right now.

  3. Take comfort in the pray of Christ found in John 17:24,
"Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world."

My heart grieves with you and your family, but I also rejoice in knowing that our beloved brother Doug will soon see the glory of Christ. He will finally be home with Jesus.

  4. The only thing that brings comfort right now is the thought that soon your sweet father is going to see the face of Jesus! Oh how my heart is breaking for you and your family. Thank you so much for allowing God to be glorified through your sweet updates. You will never know how many lives have been touched by your dad's walk of faith. I know my dad is coming over to see your dad tomorrow. I send my love through him.
    With His love and comfort,
    Christi
