(Holding Tight. Picture taken on Tuesday):
(One of Dads best buds and prayers warriors, Charles Hudgens. We love you and your family! Thank you for coming to visit dad!):
All of the donations that were given to cover the cost of treatment are now being used to help with funeral arrangements.
We are planning the funeral dad wanted, which is very simple yet honoring. (Details will be given through the blog when the time comes) If you know dad at all, you know he wanted the cheapest everything! He made this clear before he was even sick!!! We are not doing anything "extra", yet we are honoring my dad and celebrating his life and legacy. His church is planning a reception after the memorial service. Thank you Beth Israel and Cornerstone for loving my dad and our family! We have all pulled funds together, sold dads work van, cut back on bills and we are still $3500 short of being able to pay for the funeral.

We love you, Doug! You have been a man after God's heart for so long and your rewards will be many!!
ReplyDeleteMike and I SO enjoyed seeing you Uncle Doug! You have been such a Godly example and influence in my life. Thank you for the fun memories! They will be cherished.
ReplyDeleteYou are so loved!
"The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace." Num 6:24-26 (NKJV)
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna miss ya bud but I know I'll see you again. Glad we got to know each other so well over the years from you killing me laying carpet and tile to the fishing trip offshore last year and all the laughter you brought me with your funny sense of humor. How about making sure my mansion has some nice carpet in it with NO seams and tell Nana she better not spill any coffee on it either. You did such an about face the day you gave your live to Jesus, I am awed. I will miss you my man!
ReplyDeleteLove You Doug,
Dean

All the way your Savior leads you - Oh the fullness of His love, Oh the sureness of His promise in the triumph of His blood. And when your spirit, clothed immortal, wings its flight to realms of day - this your song through endless ages Jesus led you all the way...Jesus led you all the way.
ReplyDeleteOur prayers and thoughts are with you all.

We love you Uncle Doug, you have and always will mean the world to our family and esp. Mason. The world will be lost without you but Heaven will be better off. Your crown awaits you. This is not goodbye for we know we will see you again, but family gatherings will never be the same. We love you, Doug!!!
ReplyDeleteDoug you have been an Inspiration to me and many others througout the years. I have looked up to you in many ways. You have a graet family that many envy. Love you..RICKY WILLIS
ReplyDeleteI'm remembering a conversation I had with your dad (while we were working on my uncle's condo) about the song, "I Can Only Imagine" and thinking how your Dad is no longer imagining... he is doing it all, walking beside Him, dancing before Him, falling on His knees, jumping for joy with Him, looking upon His beautiful face (oh how I wonder what it looks like?). Your dad had the biggest, warmest, sweetest smile and I imagine him grinning from ear to ear now. How excited heaven must be to have your dad and how sad we are to have him gone. He will be so terribly missed until we see him again. Praying for God's tender mercy and grace to engulf you all during this time.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
Christi
What happy memories of Doug calling Marianne his other daughter and the times Marianne shared with your family. Christian friends are so precious and I am so grateful for all the you and your Mom and Dad have meant to the Spurlin family. Those memories will live on long after death separates us and we'll get to share them again in Glory. May God wrap his arms around you and your entire family as He leads you through this valley. We'll be praying for you. We love you.
