Faith Became Sight

Dads faith became sight at 2:27 this morning, Friday, June 19th. He peacefully slipped into the arms of his Creator, where I am confident he heard the words, "I am well pleased!".

Immediate family, Rabbi David and some close family friends met in dads hospice room this morning at 4:00 for a private viewing. Dad was dressed in his favorite "dress outfit", khaki pants and his button up blue shirt. He looked peaceful and like "himself".

Mom had time to mourn and grieve and then we all came in and gathered around daddy. We played a few quiet songs including dads favorite, It Is Well With My Soul. Rabbi prayed and then we each said goodbye.

Everyone left peaceful and satisfied knowing that dad had successfully finished his walk of faith.

The family is staying at mom and dad's house today and accepting visitors.
Arrangements will be announced later today.

God is good all the time and ALL the time God is good.

  2. I'm so thankful your dad was at peace in those final days and hours. I am confident as well that he received a very welcoming, "Well done." He was such a man of God. I would give anything to be there with you today. Please know Mike and I both send our love to the family and our hearts are with you right now.

Thank you for the beautiful job you have done to so wonderfully represent your dad's last walk of faith. He has been honored...

    Love you, Cil.

  3. I can't even begin to tell you the Godly impact your Dad had on my life growing up. His faith in Christ always shining through. I can't remember a time when your Dad wasn't smiling, no matter what was going on around him and he always knew how to make people laugh and feel loved.

I love you all. You are constantly in my prayers.

Doug was a faithful servant of God that left a Godly heritage of inspiring others to walk with Jesus. He touched so many lives including my own. I'm grateful to have known him so many years ago. I rejoice in knowing that my brother is no longer suffering, but is in glory with his beloved Savior.

Pricilla, thank you for sharing the past few weeks of your dads life with so many. Just as your mom and dad have touched so many lives, I'm confident that God will use you in the same way.

    Soli Deo Gloria

    Brian & Barb

    Dearly Beloved,

I am so sorry to hear about Doug. I know Faye Chamblin as I was in a few of her classes. I have been praying for you all and last night I felt very strong to go to the sight Faye had sent for us to keep up with the progress. I feel that the Lord wanted me to send to you to read Isaiah 57:1 & 2 and I pray that it will comfort you all. My prayers are with you and your family. MAY THE LORD BLESS, KEEP, GUIDE AND PROTECT YOU ALL!!!

    IN CHRIST,

    Rev. Bernice Harms

  8. And the Lord said, "welcome home my child." I'm praying for your family during this time. Praise God that your father is with his Father, meeting his Creator, Savior, and Friend, and that he is HOME. Praise God that you, will be reunited with him again one day.

  9. Hi Cilla - what a gift you have given us to allow us to read about your family's journey. Anything I say seems so cliche - but please know that we can only imagine what your daddy is seeing and experiencing right now at the feet of his Savior, and that we are thinking of you and your family.
